Dana Bigham, BSN, RN, DNC

Dana earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Washburn University in 2003. After working with Dr. Buxton as a Registered Nurse for a few years, she completed her Dermatology Certification Exam (DNC) in 2006. After many years in the field of dermatology, she still enjoys providing the best nursing care possible to all of Dr. Buxton’s patients.

Dana has lived in the Lawrence area with her husband for more than 20 years. They enjoy traveling, boating, being outdoors with their 2 dogs and spending time with family and friends.

Matthew G. Buxton, M.D.

Dr. Buxton was born in Long Beach, California. He attended the University of California, Irvine, earning first his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology followed by an M.D. degree from the UC Irvine-College of Medicine in 1992. He then moved to Overland Park and began his General Medicine Internship followed by his Dermatology Residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center, finishing in 1996.

After practicing in a dermatology group for the next seven years, he opened his solo practice, Free State Dermatology, in 2004 and has seen nearly 30,000 patients during that time. He has maintained membership in the American Academy of Dermatology for 27 years.

Dr. Buxton is an avid reader, favoring classic novels, mysteries and non-fiction. When he has time, he likes to travel and occasionally SCUBA dive.
